Study trip to the 59th Venice Art Biennale

Together with IPSD staff members Elisabeth, Katharina, Mitra, and Ulrike, our new student cohort (Dorian, Famkje, Kira, Linya, Marcus, Maria, Miriam, Olivia, and Victor) and Freda from 2nd cohort took a wonderful trip to the 59th Art Biennale in Venice, Italy.

From Oct. 13 to 16, we visited the art event at the Giardini, the Arsenale, and various other places in the city. The Biennale’s motto “The Milk of Dreams” gave us an fascinating insight in artistic approaches over a period of almost hundred years to topics of global challenges allocated to questions like: “How is the definition of the human changing? What constitutes life, and what differentiates plant and animal, human and non-human? What are our responsibilities towards the planet, other people, and other life forms? And what would life look like without us?“

The very intense and dense days were speckled with many sensual impressions, not least among others with Aperol spritz and cisrà, a Venetian chick pea soup.
