Visit of Yongqi Lou at Angewandte

Yongqi Lou, Vice President of Tongji University in Shanghai which is partner university of our double degree master’s program “Global Challenges + Sustainable Developments”, visited Angewandte on October 24, and held a lecture on “Sustainable Design Education and Transdisciplinary Innovation” at the Angewandte Interdisciplinary Lab. After his talk and discussion, GCSD students had the possibility to meet him in person finally after two years of meetings in digital rooms, and to discuss issues of global interest such as the pandemic and its consequences for travel, as well as the benefits of being able to study in Europe and China.

Prof. Dr. Yongqi LOU is Chair of the international advisory board of Angewandte and Vice President of the Industrial Design Association of China. He has been a pioneer in China for design-driven innovation that connects design, business, and technology, and is founding executive editor of “She Ji – the Journal of Design, Innovation, and Economics” published by Elsevier, as well as editorial board member of the journal “Design Issues” published by The MIT Press.

His latest book “Design Harvests: An acupunctural design approach toward sustainability” has been published by MistraUrbanFutures in Sweden. Yongqi Lou’s works have been exhibited in the Design Museum of Helsinki, the Triennale Design Museum in Milano, and at other prestigious institutions.
